Authentic Presents: Culture and Comics

Authentic Presents: Culture and Comics, an ongoing lecture series about the influence of urban and hip hop culture on comics and sequential art. The series will feature well known hip-hop and visual artists discussing the influence of both cultures on their work.

The lecture will be a fluid discussion of comics and urban culture, how it influences their work, the roles creators play in that influence, and how comics, genre entertainment, and sci-fi have traditionally been used as literary devices to discuss larger issues, especially the social and economic issues of the day.
