Created in 1999 with the mission to support local artists, today it is comprised of artists working, exhibiting and/or living in the Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Wallabout and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods in Brooklyn. SONYA offers exhibitions, studio tours, educational events, and public programs, and also hosts the annual SONYA Studio Stroll, which showcases the work of local artists.

The Church of St. Luke & St. Matthew is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island and a member of theMore Anglican Communion. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated each Sunday at 10am with traditional hymns. The congregation, centered in one of Brooklyn's most beautiful churches, has an active educational and social program to aid the needy in the community. In cold weather, the church hosts homeless guests overnight on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Bible study is offered on Thursdays at 5:30pm. The Rev. Michael T. Sniffen is priest in charge.
