Founded in 1923, Brooklyn Tech began as an all-boys school specializing in science, technology, engineering andMore mathematics. In 1970, women were admitted for the first time. The school proudly touts its long history of academic excellence, and is regularly listed among the top high schools in the country. The school also has many famous alumni, including two Nobel Laureates and Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY).

According to its official mission statement, the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Association exists, "[t]o support BrooklynMore Technical High School as <i>the</i> premier specialized high school for science, technology, engineering and mathematics by harnessing the intellectual and financial power of Tech alumni." To that end, the organization has raised more than $15 million in donations since its inception. An endowment initiated in 1998 will ensure the school will continue to have financial backing for years to come.
