Messiah and Friends at E Gallery: Renowned poet, social activist, and musical artist Messiah Ramkissoon hosts an evening of poetry, comedy, and live vocal and band performances by some of today’s hottest up and coming talent such as Metric Man and Najmah 53. $25 at the door; 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 459 Vanderbilt Avenue.

Catch The Muffs at The Bell House: This three-piece rock outfit formed in the very early 90s and, despite a few musical chairs with former members, is still cranking out cool riffs for the wayward. 7 p.m. at 149 7th Street
