Wind Advisory In Effect For NYC

Gusts up to 60 mph possible today.

Written by Gary Jeanfaivre

A storm packing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour had led the National Weather Service to issue wind advisory through 2 p.m. Nov. 1.

The winds have the potential to take down tree limbs and could cause scattered power outages, according to the advisory.

The advisory applies to all of New York City, as well as parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island.

The strong winds could prove dangerous for higher profile vehicles, according to the wind advisory, so drivers are encouraged to exercise extra caution while out on roadways.

Winds are expected to be sustained between 31 and 39 miles per hour during the advisory, with gusts up to 60 mph.
