Rainy Trick-Or-Treating Forecast for Halloween

National Weather Service forecasts building showers as night creeps in on this spooky day.

The spookiest day of the year is going to be just a bit soggy.

Forecasts for this afternoon and evening are calling for an increasing chance of showers as the day goes on.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin moving across New York City just as school lets out around 2 p.m. with temperatures right around 64 degrees.

Chances of showers with potentially heavier rains will pick up after sunset, according to the NWS. With cloud cover insulating the area, temperatures will only drop to about 62 degrees at 8 p.m.

While not a complete rainout, meteorologists say the area could see as much as a quarter-to-half an inch of water in what has been a very dry fall.

Winds will be a bit gusty during the trick-or-treating hours, with forecasts calling for breezes to be 20-to-25 miles per hour.

For trick-or-treaters, bring an umbrella along for the walk around the neighborhood and a flashlight just in case.
