The Early Word: Carmelo Anthony Basketball Pro-Camp

Brooklyn native to lead clinic at St John's in Queens.

1. Star shooting guard Carmelo Anthony will lead along with a selection of the top prep and collegiate coaches from the New York area. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18 and focuses on the team concept and fundamentals of basketball. Anthony will also give daily talks highlighting the finer points of the game of basketball and beyond. St. John's University, 8000 Utopia Pkwy., Jamaica (Queens) Fri. and Sat., 9:30 a.m. $199.

2. The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) and the African Film Fest (AFF) celebrate the . This week: Elmo Night! Join us to celebrate one of the world's most recognizable and adored characters. Fulton Park, 1700 Fulton St. 7 p.m. Free.

3. Music4ACause and The Five Spot present a featuring RuggedNRaw, Silent Hornetz, Nasty Noah, Black Betty and Baby Cave hosted by comedian Baker Bone. Special guest Djs are also on tap. Five Spot Soul Restaurant, 459 Myrtle Ave. 8 p.m. $10 advance tickets.

4. As part of the monthly Open Mic Night, Staten Island based, Shoot Hoops Not Guns, Inc. performs the latest : against gun violence. De Lux Hair Gallery, 702 Fulton St. 9:30 p.m. Free.
