Hamptons Agenda: Hospital Summer Party, Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball, Alec Baldwin, Clothesline Art Sale

Also happening this weekend on the East End, Amagansett hosts its 99th Annual Summer Fair, Zoppe! An Italian Family Circus comes to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, and Guild Hall in East Hampton has a full line-up of events.

August is kicking-off on the East End with lots of family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained and busy all weekend long. Here are some of the hottest events happening in the Hamptons this weekend.

Montauk

GALA: The Montauk Playhouse hosts its on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center.  The outdoor tented gala features dinner, dancing, drinks, a live auction, raffles, and live music.  Actors Jerry O’Connell and Aida Turturro will host the evening as honorary co-chairs.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Montauk Playhouse Community Center's future plans of communal spaces, aquatics center and theater arts projects. Individual tickets are $250 and can be purchased by calling 631-668-1124 and at the Willow Gift Store in the Village of Montauk.

Amagansett

FAIR: The First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett will host the on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The fair will be held on the church grounds on Meeting House Lane at Main Street, across from the Amagansett Farmer's Market. The fair will include children's games, pony rides, petting zoo, craft tables, farm stand items, refreshments and roasted corn.  Admission is free for this event.

AUTHOR TALK: Author will be at the Amagansett Library on Saturday at 6 p.m. to talk about his latest book, Kayak Morning:
 Reflections on Love, Grief, and Small Boats. This event is part of the "Authors After Hours at the Amagansett Library" series and admission is free. For more information you can call 631-267-3810.

Springs

ART OPENING: Ashawagh Hall will host the on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Guest curator Christina Mossaides Strassfield, the Guild Hall Museum director/chief curator, has chosen work from more than 125 East End artists to be included in this show. The opening reception if free and open to the public.

East Hampton

AUTHOR TALK: will be at BookHampton in East Hampton on Friday night at 7 p.m. to dish out life and style advice.  Admission to this event is free.

ART SALE BENEFIT: Guild Hall will host its on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.  The event will showcase original works from nearly 400 East End artists.  All proceeds will be split 50/50 between the artists and Guild Hall. Admission to this event is free and prices to purchase works will range from $50 to $2,000. For more information call 631-324-0806.

FILM: The John Drew Theater at Guild Hall presents, in partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival, its third film of the hosted by Alec Baldwin on Saturday at 8 p.m. "How to Survive a Plague" is a film by David France that tells the story of a mostly HIV positive group of young men and women who took on Washington and the medical establishment to try and turn AIDS from a death sentence to a manageable condition. A talkback will follow the screening with Baldwin and special guest TBA. Tickets are $22 and $20, and can be purchased by calling 631-324-0806.

CHEF TALK: Guild Hall presents featuring Chef Laurent Tourondel who will be on hand at 11 a.m. on Sunday to discuss "The Art of the Burger."  Tourondel will be hosted and interviewed by Florence Fabricant, acclaimed food writer and regular contributor to The New York Times dining section.  He has opened restaurants all over the world, and locally opened LT Burger in the Harbor in Sag Harbor.  Tickets are $15 and $13 for members with a book signing to follow the discussion.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 631-324-4050.

MUSIC: Singer Melissa Errico will present at Guild Hall on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the release of her new cd, "Legrand Affair." Errico, who is a Long Island native, has performed on Broadway starring as Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady," television, and film.  She has performed many summers at Guild Hall and performed last summer with Alec Baldwin in "Gift of the Gorgon." A VIP reception will be held that includes a signed copy of her new cd.  Tickets are Prime Orchestra and VIP Reception $100; Orchestra $60/$58 members; Balcony $45/$43 members.  To purchase tickets by phone call 631-324-4050.

Sagaponack 

WINE & MUSIC: Wolffer Estate Vineyard is hosting throughout the summer at the Wine Stand on Montauk Highway from 5 p.m. until sunset every Friday and from 5:30 p.m. till sunset every Saturday.  Live music will be playing until the sun sets, while wine is served by the bottle and the glass with cheese and charcuterie plates available for purchase. Bridgehampton

OUTDOOR MOVIE: "To Kill A Mockingbird" will be shown outdoors at Silas Marder  Gallery in Bridgehampton on Friday at 9 p.m. The film showing is part of a series happening throughout the summer called , presented in partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival. All films are free and you may bring beach chairs, blankets, and a picnic.

Sag Harbor

COCKTAIL RECEPTION: A will be held at LT Burger in the Harbor on Friday at 3 p.m. for the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team.  All are invited to stop by and welcome the team into town.  This event is hosted by Eddie Burke Jr.  The 9/11 National Flag of Honor will be on display for the public's viewing at the Ross School on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

VETERANS-VS-ALL-STAR SOFTBALL: The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team is coming to Long Island for the first time ever to play a against local celebrities and all-stars on Saturday in Sag Harbor.  The team consists of nearly 20 amputee veterans from the post-9/11 era, all of whom wear some form of prosthesis.  Pre-game action will begin at 1:20 p.m. at Mashashimuet Park with players introduction followed by the presentation of colors.  The 9/11 National Flag of Honor will be in Sag Harbor with the team and will be on centerfield during the opening ceremony.  The game will begin at 2 p.m. with a meet and greet and photo opportunity on the field with the players following the game.  Admission to the game is free.  All donations and sponsorships for this event will be divided between the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Hamptons Baseball League.

Southampton

BENEFIT: Southampton Hospital’s 54th Annual Summer Party, themed Grand Prix Monaco, is Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. to benefit The Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department. The party takes place on hospital grounds, under the tents on Wickapogue Road. Cocktails are until 8:30 p.m., but the event goes on till 11 p.m. with dinner and dancing. AUTHOR TALK: Author will be at BookHampton in Southampton on Saturday at 5 p.m.  Zelevansky will be reading from her new book, Semi-Charmed Life.  Admission to this event is free.

ANTIQUES FAIR: will be held on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside and on the lawn of the White House in the village.  The fair will feature aniques, jewelry, vintage clothing, glass, ceramics and art work.  For more information call 631-283-2494.

Westhampton Beach

CIRCUS: , presented by the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, will be held on the Great Lawn in Westhampton Beach. Performances will run Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m., and a final performance on Sunday evening at 6 p.m.  This one-ring circus tent features Nino the clown, acrobatics, equestrian showmenship, and canine capers.  Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.

MUSIC: Grammy-Award Winner , best known for his time as a memeber of the Eagles,  will be at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.  Walsh is on tour to support the upcoming release of Analog Man, his first solo album in 20 years.  Tickets are $250, $200, and $150.  To purchase tickets by phone call 631-288-1500.

MUSIC: The will be at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.  Metheny is a jazz guitarist who is a 19-time Grammy Award Winner and is coming to WHBPAC with his new ensemble of musicians dubbed the Unity Band.  Tickets are $135, $120, and $95.  To purchase tickets by phone call 631-288-1500.

Quogue

AUTHOR TALK: The "Conversations with the Author" series at the Quogue Library presents author on Sunday at 5 p.m.  Alger will be on hand to discuss her book The Darlings: A Novel.  Tickets are $15 and a book signing and reception will follow the discussion.  To purchase tickets in advance, which is strongly recommended, call 631-653-4224 ext.4.
