HAPPY NEW YEAR, FULTON STREET BID!!!

To the FAB Board and Manager Phillip Kellogg:
Happy New Year!  Which has brought us the first deep snow of the winter, fortunately not the two feet that paralyzed this town a couple of years ago.
That famous blizzard hit with the Mayor on vacation and FAB out to lunch.  Everyone suffered, especially the small stores because you hadn't acquired a plow or blower such as the schools have to clear their sidewalks and grounds.  PS 56 on Downing, Gates and Irving was cleared right away while the sidewalks on Fulton Street were impassable for days, unless you happened to have a pair of snowshoes.  The stores took a  beating.
Plows that hook up to a truck or van are not expensive.  We asked you to invest in one.
Snow is incriminating:  It makes prints that tell.  We know you haven't bought a plow.  The snow told us.  This morning Ibrahim made an impressive five-feet-wide, block-long passage with a heavy metal shovel.  The temperature was 9 degrees.  It took him more than two hours.  Talk about the "plantation of New York City."
It would have taken a plow twenty minutes, tops.
The neighborhood has always been, and has grown increasingly more bothered by the exploitation of the FAB street workers.  This snowfall reminds us again how little you care about them, how FAB continues to "save money" on them.  You can buy a plow for less than $2000, yet you don't see the need because you have human shovels cheap:  $7.41/hour.
The new administration has pledged to address inequality and injustice, to advocate for people of color who have been made to be invisible.  FAB sweeper/shovelers are made to be invisible, assigned dark uniforms and hard dirty work.
You can buy a plow for less than $2000.  Please buy one.
