Councilwoman Letitia James, will join concerned parents at a rally against the proposed co-location of Brooklyn's newest Success Academy charter school at P.S. 265.
According to James, D-Fort Greene, the inclusion of Success Academy's K-5 program would put the aging school building on Park Avenue at 102 percent capacity.
P.S. 265 already is co-located with a secondary school, P369@265, serving students in grades 6-12.
"Operating at above capacity will endanger students, compromise education, and eliminate state mandated resource rooms," read a statement sent by James' office on Wednesday.
A request for comment from Success Academy, which operates 14 schools in New York City including in Cobble Hill, Bed-Stuy and Williamsburg, wasn't immediately returned.
The rally will take place at P.S. 265, 101 Park Ave. in Fort Greene at 4 p.m. Thursday.
