Trayvon Martin!

As this is the day after the verdict of the Trayvon Martin Case, I am extremely saddened by the outcome, although a greater spirit of social justice is even more present in my mind.

Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, going to the store to buy Skittles, was shot and killed, in the State of Florida. There were six women on the jury, which leaves me to wonder, if any of them, before making their decision, mentally, put their own children in the place of young Trayvon? If Killer George Zimmerman, suspected Trayvon as being "suspicious", as he (Martin) walked on the grounds of where his family lived nearby, why didn't Zimmerman just dial 911? I wonder if George Zimmerman would have approached young Trayvon, in the middle of the night, had he (Zimmerman) not had a gun? I wonder if George Zimmerman would have responded the same way if young Trayvon was walking with a group of friends?

For the most part, a youngster may look older from afar, but when looking at a young person face to face, you can clearly see the "baby-ness" in their faces. If I can see that Trayvon Martin was just a kid from the television screen, I am quite sure that Zimmerman saw the same thing, even more so, in person.

I know many of us are speaking about ending racial profiling practices, but it really begins with the understanding that we are dealing with spiritual wickedness in high places.  Who, in their right mind, can honestly say that George Zimmerman should not be held accountable and that the judicial system served this Country well with the verdict that was rendered...and truly mean it???

Trayvon didn't have the gun. Zimmerman had the gun. Trayvon didn't follow Zimmerman. Zimmerman followed Trayvon. Trayvon called his friend to express that he was in a threatening situation, with someone behind him...now Trayvon is dead and Zimmerman is still alive.

The same way Texas State Senator Wendy Davis filibustered for 11 hours, we need legislators to hold up every piece of movement, in Congress and within the State Legislature until laws are properly in place to protect against, any sort of racial profiling! It was Trayvon today, but it can, easily, be your child tomorrow!
