Whither G Train? [POLL]

A vital link between Fort Greene-Clinton Hill and Park Slope is on the chopping block.

Love it, hate it—okay, mostly just hate it—the G train is a vital link for thousands of Fort Greene-Clinton Hill residents.

That's why plans to (once again) truncate the line at Smith and 9th Streets in Carroll Gardens has inspired more than a few neighborhood residents to sign a petition and perhaps call their elected officials.

And it seems to be working. Joining Democratic Assembly District Leader Lincoln Restler in demanding a reversal of the  following the completion of renovations on the Culver Line is Assemblyman Jim Brennan, D-Park Slope.

"It would be a serious loss—economically and in terms of forward-looking transportation planning—if this service were cut back to its pre-2009 levels," he said.

So for those a bit closer to home, here's a chance to sound off: How will the planned service cut affect your trip, if at all?

If you want to go to park slope on the weekend you can forget about public transportation from clinton hill, B69 doesn't run and G train that stops at 15th st hasn't run on weekends for many months

First thing someone told me about the trains when i first moved here was: "Never trust a train that doesn't go through the city." There is a lot of truth to that statement especially when the train decides to turn its back on its riders. The G train is not for tourists or commuters its for the residents of the outer boroughs and its time those residents have their voices heard! If funding is the issue how about we revisit the idea of a congestion charge for cars that drive into certain parts of the city that are easily accessible by public transport and lets use that money to fund the transport of people who live here and is their only means of mobility. Thoughts?

Wow...I understand this is a ft greene clinton hill blog...but no one has said a word about the people who live in Bedstuy that relay on this train..or the fact that it's one of the easiest ways to get to Queens from BK without the additional 45min detour through Manhattan...
