This Week in NYC Election News

Everything you need to know about the road to City Hall.

The campaign of John Liu hit a big snag earlier this week when he was denied matching funds by the Board of Elections. The lack of money will put a real damper on his ability to get out his message and may doom his already flagging campaign.

The winner of the week is probably Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who announced her education plan at practically the same time as city education leaders found themselves making excuses for New York students' abysmal scores on their most recent statewide tests.

To top it all off, Quinn found herself leading yet another poll on Thursday, beating her closest rival — Bill Thompson — by nine percentage points.

In the Comptroller's race, Politicker reported that both Scott Stringer and Eliot Spitzer were claiming victory Friday morning after a televised debate.
