The Weekend Tip: Restler Pulls Ahead in District Leader Race

1. One of the hardest working men or women in Brooklyn politics got some good news late Friday night. Lincoln Restler, a former Fort Greene resident, was on top by 53 votes in final counting of ballots in his race against Chris Olechowski for 50th Assembly District Leader. Olechowski was backed by disgraced Assemblyman and former Democratic Party chair Vito Lopez and had support from a key Hasidic sect. "We overcame a 5,300 block vote against us in Williamsburg to win a nearly impossible race," Restler wrote via Twitter. However, the unusually hard-fought District Leader race might not be over just quite yet. Given the slim margin of victory, a recount seems likely, Colin Campbell of Politicker tweeted Friday.

2. City Harvest hosts its second annual Brooklyn Local event, providing a marketplace that highlights local and gourmet food items, as well as craft beer and wine.
