The Early Word: A Call For Extra Barclays Policing

Elected officials to urge Bloomberg, Forest City Ratner to beef up public safety at arena.

On Tuesday morning in Fort Greene, elected officials will propose a nine-point calling on Mayor Michael Bloomberg and developer Forest City Ratner to beef up policing in the communities around Barclays Center. The announcement will be made at 9:30 a.m. at S. Portland and Atlantic avenues. State Sen. Velmanette Montgomery, D-Boerum Hill, and Councilwoman Letitia James, D-Fort Greene, are expected to attend.
