Silver and Lopez Sued by Harassment Victims: Report

Two lawsuits allege groping, kissing and attempts to use staffers as pawns in sex-for-legislation trade, paper reported.

Two victims of Vito Lopez's reign of sexual terror in Albany are suing both the disgraced former assemblyman and state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, the New York Post reported Friday.
In separate lawsuits filed in Manhattan, one victim claims that Lopez tried to coerce her into having sex with a member of the Governor's administration in an attempt to pass a housing bill.

Another says Lopez tried to kiss her, and made her feel his cancerous tumors, the Post reported.

Both harassment victims are suing both Lopez and Silver for unspecified damages.

In a report released last month, a special investigator said that Lopez's actions while in the Assembly never rose to the level of a crime in Brooklyn, but castigated the leadership of the body for ponying up hush money and creating a culture where such actions could continue.

Lopez announced his resignation — and candidacy for the City Council — last month.
