Sewer Line Collapse Closes Section of Atlantic Avenue

Repairs expected to take at least a week.

By Amy Sara Clark

If you're driving east near Prospect Heights, do not, I repeat, do not take Atlantic Avenue.

A sewer line collapse has closed several blocks of the major artery since Tuesday night. Officials hope to reopen the street in about a week, but if damage is worse than initially thought, it could take longer, police said.

All eastbound lanes (heading toward Queens)  on Atlantic Avenue between Bedford Avenue to Nostrand Avenue will be closed until further notice.

Vehicles on Atlantic Avenue will be diverted north on Bedford Avenue to Fulton Street, then east on Fulton Street until Nostrand.
