Mosley Appointed to Democratic Leadership Post

Democratic nominee for Hakeem Jeffries' Assembly seat moving on up in party ranks.

District Leader Walter Mosley has been appointed 2nd vice chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, according to a spokeswoman for his Assembly campaign.

The appointment makes the Clinton Hill resident the third-highest ranking member of the Brooklyn Democrats.

Earlier this month, Mosley came out on top in a Democratic primary for Hakeem Jeffries’ seat in the 57th Assembly District, which includes Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights and a portion of Bed-Stuy.

Mosley joins recently appointed Democratic Party chair Frank Seddio as part of a restructured borough organization looking to move on from the Vito Lopez sexual harassment scandal.

"I am honored to be elected by my esteemed peers to serve the Democratic Party of Brooklyn," he said. "Our county, city and state are at a crossroads and we have an opportunity to set a strong progressive standard here in Brooklyn. I look forward to working with chairman Frank Seddio and the rest of the Kings County Democratic Committee in standing up for working families and moving our borough forward."

Recently elected 57th Assembly Female District Leader Renee Collymore was appointed treasurer of the party.
