Classon Avenue Reconstruction Starts Monday

The avenue will be changed to one-lane in low-traffic areas, and lights will be adjusted.

Just a reminder that the Classon Avenue Safety Project will start construction this Monday, April 30, in an effort to calm traffic on Classon between President Street and Flushing Avenue.

The full DOT plan is here, but as , Classon Avenue will be changed to one 11-foot lane in low-traffic areas, with extra-wide space for parking; areas near busy intersections like Dekalb Avenue will continue to have two lanes for vehicular traffic.

A third lane will also be created for the half-block south of Atlantic Avenue to allow for more cars to wait for the light, with the extra lane formed by eliminating 11 parking spaces.
