Last Chance: Register to Vote In New York Primary

Time is running out.

For those looking to cast a ballot in this year's primary: The clock is ticking.

According to the City of New York Board of Elections, applicants who have never been registered in the state, changed their address or wish to change their party affiliation have 25 days before the June 26 primary to register.

That means new residents of the 8th Congressional District who wish to cast a ballot in the must register to vote by June 1.

Registration forms must be delivered or mailed by that date.

And because New York State's primary system is "closed," only registrants who identify themselves as Democrats will be able to vote in the Barron-Jeffries primary contest.

Voters also must be U.S. citizens, over 18 years of age, residents of the city for more than 30 days and not on parole for a felony or currently serving time.
