Help Keep Brooklyn Warm This Winter

Program helping less-fortunate New Yorkers needs 80,000 more coats.

Baby, it's cold outside. And it's only going to get colder.

That's why New York Cares asks everyone who can donate a warm coat for those less fortunate before the snow files each year.

Perhaps you've donated in past years, but if you can find a spare parka or raincoat in your closet, make sure to drop it off before Dec. 31, because New York Cares really need them this year.

Donations have been down, and despite adding new drop-off locations and starting two weeks earlier, so the drive has only collected 20 percent of what they need: 20,000 of the 100,000 coats necessary.

Last year's donations were also down and 10,000 kids didn't get coats, according to New York Cares, which runs the 23-year-old drive.
