• The key race in Central Brooklyn is a Democratic primary battle for in Congress between Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and Councilman Charles Barron. Whoever makes it through the June 26 primary will go on to face Green Party candidate Colin Beavan and Republican Alan Bellone. 

• State Sen. Velmanette Montgomery, D-Boerum Hill, will be running for reelection this year.

• The race to replace Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries, D-Fort Greene, pits two District Leaders, Walter Mosley and , against each other in a September primary. The winner of that battle is expected to sail through the general election in November.
