Early Numbers in Brooklyn as de Blasio Leads Citywide

With the polls closed right around two hours, early results are coming in for New York City's mayoral primaries.

In the race for mayor, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is very close to the threshold to avoid a runoff for the Democratic nomination, NY1 reports.

Republican Joe Lhota has sailed through the GOP primary in the early returns, as well.

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer is holding on to a narrow lead over Eliot Spitzer, as well.

In Queens, Melinda Katz appears poised to take the Queens Borough President's office over Peter Vallone, Jr.

In City Council District 35, Laurie Cumbo is beating Olanike Alabi and Ede Fox, though just over half of the votes have been counted.

In District 36, covering parts of Bed-Stuy, the race is a dead heat and far too close to call.
