DOT, CB 2 to Discuss Future of Fowler Square

The meeting will take place Tuesday night at St. Francis College.

Officials from the Department of Transportation and Community Board 2 will meet Tuesday evening to discuss the future of Fowler Square, Brownstoner reports

The pedestrian plaza, which occupies S. Elliott Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue, was installed by the DOT during this past summer using temporary materials.

Though many residents welcomed the plaza, some were displeased with the development, saying permanent decisions should not be made until the full effect the Barclays Center has on traffic is understood.

The DOT said work to permanently seal off the green street would not take place until the findings of its study of traffic and pedestrian flow with the plaza in place were presented to CB 2.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at St. Francis College at 180 Remsen Street in the first floor board room.
