CM James to Sponsor Bike Helmet Giveaway

Fittings and giveaway will take place at Commodore Barry Park.

 

A local politician is holding a free event to encourage safe practices while riding a bicycle around the area. 

Councilwoman Letitia James, D-35, is sponsoring a bike helmet fitting and giveaway at the Commodore Barry Park from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

There are certain stipulations to receiving a helmet, including: 

  • You must be present to get a helmet and you must learn how to properly fit it.

  • A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for children under age 18.

  • Adults over age 18 receiving a helmet must sign a waiver. 

    The giveaway comes just in time as a wave of bikes make their way into Fort Greene and Clinton Hill through the city's new bike share program, the CitiBike system. 

    Commodore Barry Park is located at Navy Street and Flushing Avenue.
