City Counting on Speed Bumps to Slow Barclays Center Traffic

Traffic calming measures either already or about to be implemented in time for Sept. 28 opening.

The city Department of Transportation will continue to install speed bumps in the blocks surrounding Barclays Center to ensure that vehicles traveling to and from the soon-to-be-opened arena drive safely.

According to a list released by Councilwoman Letitia James, D-Fort Greene, three more speed bump locations are on tap for Fort Greene-Clinton Hill.

The speed bumps will be placed on Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Hanson Place, Carlton Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue and Clinton Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue.

The new traffic slowing measures come in addition to a second speed bump already installed by DOT on Washington Avenue between Greene and Gates avenues earlier this summer.

Along with the four speed bumps approved Fort Greene-Clinton Hill, DOT cleared traffic slowing measures for the following streets in Park Slope and Prospect Heights:

-Plaza Street West between Lincoln Place and Berkeley Place

-Plaza Street West between Berkeley Place and Union Street

-Prospect Place between Carlton Avenue to Vanderbilt Avenue

-Prospect Place between Vanderbilt Avenue to Underhill Avenue

-Prospect Place between Underhill Avenue to Washington Avenue

-Sterling Place between Washington Avenue and Underhill Avenue
