In wake of sobering stats on pedestrian fatalities, what's the best way to slow drivers down?

Pedestrians, bicyclists and even a few uninitiated drivers didn't need a study to tell them that Atlantic Avenue is one of the most dangerous in the borough, if not the city.

However, a sobering account of the makes it clear that the city still has a long way to go to make our streets safer for everyone.

To get some of the best ideas out there to slow drivers down at critical intersections like the one at Atlantic, Flatbush and Fourth avenues, we consulted with the experts at Transporation Alternatives, a group pushing for more funding and safety measures for pedestrians, bicyclists and straphangers.
