5 Things: Brooklyn's Best Sledding and Where to Get Warm

How to enjoy Brooklyn's first snowstorm of 2013.

1. Stay warm. As of last night, the National Weather Service was forecasting 7 to 13 inches of snow through 9 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures are expected to hover around 32-degrees, but winds of  22 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph, will make it feel colder. There is a chance of some light snow today, with less than an inch of accumulation. See their latest forecast here

2. Hit the slopes! See our list of Brooklyn's best sledding spots, from bunny hills to heart-racing drops.

3. Venture out. Unless the weather is really bad, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (718-623-7200) and the Brooklyn Museum (718-638-5000) will try to open today. Call to confirm.

4. Get the kids out of the house. Barring any cancelation, Fort Greene Sports will hold an indoor tee ball program for children ages 4 to 6 starting at 10 a.m. The six-week $150 program will teach kiddies baseball fundamentals at the School for Career Development at 510 Clermont Ave. Contact Coach Bob Byers at mail@ftgreenesports.org for an application.

5. Dig the car out. Want to know when your street will be plowed? Snow plows can now be tracked on NYC.gov with an application that updates every half hour. Bonus: if you manage to park at a meter, it's free. All meter rules are suspended today.
