Would-Be Father Hits Pregnant Girlfriend: This Week's Police Blotter

Victim taken to Maimonides Hospital for prenatal checkup after incident at Atlantic Terminal Mall last week.

Woman, Eight-Months Pregnant, Punched By Baby's Father At Mall

The father of a 21-year-old woman's baby put her in a chokehold, punched her once in the abdomen and stole her BlackBerry Curve at Atlantic Terminal on Feb. 21 at 11 p.m. According to police, the woman is eight months pregnant with the man's baby. The woman was transported to Maimonides Hospital for observation. According to an officer attached to the 88th Precinct, the man is still at large.

Attack on St. Edwards Street

On Feb. 19 at 6:45 p.m., two teens approached a 20-year-old female walking northbound on St. Edwards Street between Myrtle Avenue and Willoughby Street. The teens then began punching the woman in the head, stealing her cellphone. Both the victim and witness told police that they would not be able to identify the suspects.

Kids Steal Woman's Groceries

A group of four males and one female, ages 11-15, attacked a 41-year-old woman, punching her in the face and head as she walked along Willoughby Street at Flatbush Avenue on Feb. 19 at around 8:50 p.m. The kids stole a bag of groceries from the woman and then fled in an unknown direction. Last week, police captured by a nearby surveillance camera. No arrests have been reported. The woman was treated at for a swollen left eye and cuts to the face. 

Man Held Up at Gunpoint For $5

Inside an elevator at 5 Fleet Walk in Ingersoll Houses on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m., a suspect male wearing a grey hoodie with a light complexion and approximately 17 years old held up an older man at gunpoint. The victim handed the gunman a $5 bill, after which the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

Unwanted Boyfriend Turns Violent

The father of a woman's baby became angry during a confrontation at a residence at 487 Carlton Ave. on the morning of Feb. 23. After the boyfriend started to choke her, the woman freed herself and called police. The man ran off with the woman's cellphone, keys and an ATM card.

Security Guard Held Captive By Thieves For Over 5 Hours

An employee of iStore Green at 12 Hall St. spent a harrowing night held at gunpoint by as many as six thieves, who stole boxes from storage units located in the building’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. The guard said he didn't know what was in the boxes. The incident, which began at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, ended when the thieves released the guard at 1:30 a.m. the next morning. The guard told police that a video surveillance camera caught the suspects in the act.

Thief Has a Knife Up His Sleeve

Unknown perps robbed a teen of his iPhone 4S and black Air Jordan sneakers in the vicinity of St. James Place and Fulton Street on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. During the incident, one of the suspects told the teen to "Give up your stuff!" and then displayed a knife hidden underneath his sleeve. The suspects then fled north on St. James. No injuries were reported.

Boyfriend Foiled in Getaway By Police

Danilo Montera, 27, who fled the scene of a Feb. 19 fight with his girlfriend at a residence at 35 N. Oxford St. in a blue Buick sedan, was arrested the next day by police for grabbing and choking her by the neck.

Officer Injured in Bizarre Incident at Shelter

A police officer assisting medical technicians with a sick person at the Institute for Community Living on Tillary Street on Feb. 23 at around 6 p.m. told a woman, later identified as Lydia Harris, 19, to step back. Harris repeatedly refused the officer's instructions and then became irate, kicking the officer in the left eye and causing her serious pain. Harris was arrested shortly afterward.

Sealed Apt. at Whitman Houses Broken Into

The New York City Housing Authority reported a break-in at an apartment in Whitman Houses on Feb. 22 that occurred a day after the City Marshall sealed the premises as part of the eviction process. An unknown amount of property was taken from the residence. NYCHA has since resealed the unit.

Burglary on Cumberland Street

The occupant of a residence on Cumberland Street returned on Feb. 25 at 3:30 a.m. to find a MacBook Pro, external hard drive and iPod Touch stolen. Possible point of entry was at the rear of the building. A canvass of the area did not turn up any clues.

Diversionary Tactic Used to Steal Bag

At the Atlantic Terminal Mall Chuck E. Cheese, a woman watching a bag for another person on Feb. 20 at 9:30 p.m. was momentarily distracted by another woman asking for directions to the bathroom. After the suspect and her friend left the area, the woman noticed that the Coach bag and its contents, including debit and credit cards, were missing.

Unemployment Card Used at... Applebee's?

An unlucky woman who either dropped or had her wallet stolen in the vicinity of Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street near the southern edge of the 88th Precinct on Feb. 20 later discovered her unemployment card used at an Applebee's and a store at Atlantic Center Mall. An attempt to charge a purchase to the woman's Citibank card was unsuccessful.

Pickpocket Targets Elderly Woman

While shopping at Marshall's at Atlantic Terminal Mall on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m., a 74-year-old woman noticed her pocketbook open and her wallet, with $120 in cash, a Medicare card and Social Security card, stolen.

Resident Loses $6,000-Plus in Fraud

A Fort Greene woman reported on Feb. 18 that two fraudulent accounts opened up in her name at Chase bank were used to withdraw a total of $6,100 in cash.

Rims and Tires Stolen

The owner of a Nissan automobile return to a street parking space in the vicinity of 167 S. Portland Ave. on Feb. 23 at 7 a.m. to find all four tires and rims stolen. The items totaled $4,000 in value.

Few Details in Substantial Bank Fraud

A woman lost a total of $17,510 in a series of unauthorized bank transactions dating from Feb. 21 to Feb. 21. The case is under investigation by the 88th Precinct's Detective Squad.

Patient Steals Nurse's Cellphone

A healthcare worker at Brooklyn Hospital who left her phone unattended in a patient's room on Feb. 22 returned to find it missing. After contacting her phone provider, the woman discovered that the phone had been used, and was still in the possession of, the above patient.

Identity Thief Caught Red Handed at Club

During a search related to another criminal investigation, police discovered two credit cards and a driver's license in the name of another party in the pockets of Malcolm Butler, 22, on Feb. 25 in front of Social Butterfly Club on Waverly Avenue. Police allege that Butler used one of the cards and ID to purchase a bottle of Moet champagne at the club.

Yogi's Cool Resolve Tested

A customer at on Dekalb Avenue returned to her belongings after class on Feb. 25 to find her wallet removed from her bag.
