Two Break-Ins Reported on Washington Ave.
Burglars target two Clinton Hill residences Saturday morning.
Attempted Burglary on Washington Avenue
Police busted three men early Saturday morning as they tried to break into a Washington Avenue apartment, according to police.
Around 2:45 a.m. on July 21, the three male perps, ages 18, 19 and 20, were seen entering an apartment on Washington near Dekalb Avenue on the 6th floor via the fire escape and removing a window screen. A witness reported the actions and police arrived on the scene.
Police found the men three blocks away changing their clothes and arrested two on the spot, chasing the third to Lafayette Avenue and Waverly Avenue before bringing all of them into custody at the 88th Precinct station.
A Case of Mistaken Apartment Identity?
A man who claimed to be a former resident took a wallet from the apartment of a 30-year-old woman on the morning of July 21.
The victim slept next to her boyfriend only to be awakened at 7 a.m. by an uninvited guest in their unit on Washington Avenue near Lafayette Avenue.
The perp, who did not leave signs of forced entry, told the boyfriend that he was a former resident of the apartment and used his keys to enter. The intruder left after the boyfriend ordered him to leave. The couple later found the boyfriend's wallet missing.
Though the intruder gave his name to the couple, his identity hasn't been verified and the alleged burglar is still at large.
