UPDATED: Three Men Questioned In Death Of Williamsburg Landlord

Police are questioning three men in the murder of Williamsburg landlord Menachem Stark said to have been millions of dollars in debt.

UPDATE, 5/1/2014, 4:08 p.m.: Suspect Kendel Felix, 26, admitted that he and some of his relatives kidnapped Stark because they knew he carried a large amount of cash. He told investigators that one of his relatives sat on Stark's chest when he fought back the assailants and accidentally suffocated him. Felix has been charged with murder, but police have yet to charge anyone else.
There may be new leads in the coming days regarding the death of a Williamsburg landlord said to have owed millions to previous business partners prior to his killing.

Police are questioning three men in the murder of Menachem Stark, 39, whose body was found charred in a dumpster in Long Island.

Surveillance cameras recorded two men nabbing Stark minutes before midnight Jan. 2 in front of his offices and throwing him into a Dodge Caravan.

It is believed that the assailants were originally hired to intimidate Stark into paying off some of his debts, but accidentally suffocated him in the scrap, leading them to frantically look for places to dispose of his body.

Police Comissioner Bill Bratton did not release any further information on the case, but noted there has been progress.

"We are pleased with the direction the investigation is now going," he told reporters Wednesday.
