Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword: Man Robbed of iPhone By Way of Ballpoint

A 23-year-old was approached on Grand Avenue by pen-wielding man who demanded his iPhone.

A round-up of recent crime in the area:

At 2:20 p.m. on June 13, a woman was walking home on Myrtle and Willoughby avenues when a 16-year-old boy approached her, said "give me your phone," and took her iPhone from her hand. Police arrested the boy in connection to the incident.

At 5:10 p.m. on June 13, a 53-year-old man said that two men entered his Fulton Street home, with one pointing a gun at him and saying "get up" and "gimme the money." The men took the man's wallet, cash, debit card, ID card and driver's license. They then told the man to go to the back of his home and they ran away. The victim followed the men east on Fulton to St. James Place, and then to Lefferts Place, where he saw them get in a blue four-door sedan and drive east on Lefferts Place toward Grand Avenue. 

At 11:05 p.m. on June 14, a 23-year-old man said a man approached him outside of his Grand Avenue home and demanded money while threatening him with a pen. The perp took the man's iPhone and said "Have you ever been beat up?" Police were able to track the iPhone to a Myrtle Avenue home, where they found and arrested 29-year-old Christopher Cook for the robbery. 

At 6:20 p.m. on June 15, a 14-year-old boy was at a playground on Flushing and North Portland avenues when two boys grabbed him and took his cell phone. Police arrested a 16-year-old boy, who had the boy's cellphone, for the robbery. The other boy was not apprehended. 

At 5:10 p.m on June 16, a 17-year-old boy said 19-year-old Jamel Hines called him inside a Hudson Walk building, where he and four others pushed him against the wall. One person displayed a gun and another person went through his pockets and took his watch, Blackberry, wallet and metro card. His scooter was also taken. Police arrested Hines for the robbery.
