Teenage Wasteland: This Week's Police Blotter

Fort Greene Park Cellphone Swipe, Take 1

Two teens approached a 33-year-old woman from behind while she walked toward St. Edwards Street and Willoughby within the confines of Fort Greene Park on Tuesday, May 24 at approximately 2:20 p.m. The teens, both males aged 14 and 16, snatched the woman's cellphone and fled. A sweep of the area by police nabbed the suspects and recovered the stolen cellphone.

Fort Greene Park Cellphone Swipe, Take 2

On Friday night, another woman in her 30s walking through Fort Greene Park became the victim of teenage thieves, who like their juvenile delinquent counterparts earlier in the week, snuck up behind their victim and swiped her cellphone. Police later apprehended the teens. Score 2 for 88th Precinct cops!

Most Unlikely Place To Shoplift During A Heatwave

The Burlington Coat Factory on Atlantic Avenue was the scene of the crime on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 24 as four teens aged 14 to 17 tried to make a getaway with $232 worth of shoes and clothes. When approached, one of teens took on a security guard, leaving him with scratches and bruises. 

"Shut Up, Give Me The Money"

A still at-large man held up a bodega at 214 Greene St. on Thursday just before 9 p.m. after displaying a silver handgun and yelling, "Shut up, give me the money" to the store's cashier. The robber, who wore a bandana over his face, made off with $1,000 — all in denominations of $1.

A 50-year-old woman accused a friend/acquaintance of hitting her with a bottle of E&J brandy in a room at the Washington Arms Hotel late at night on Friday, May 20. She came out of the fracas with two black eyes.

Fashionable Victim

A patron of Crunch gym on Fulton Street returned after a workout Saturday to find his locker open and his brown Louis Vuitton wallet and a green/red Gucci belt missing, along with some cash, his driver's license and a social security card.
