Stabbing Part of a Bloody Start to Week in Fort Greene

Incident at Atlantic Terminal Houses the second bout of violence to hit neighborhood public housing in a 24 hour period.

One of three brothers hanging out in front of their building at Atlantic Terminal Houses was stabbed in a mid-day attack Monday, police and neighbors said. 

The man, 25, was stabbed with a knife by two assailants on Carlton Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street at approximately 1:30 p.m, police said. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital. 

According to police, his wounds were not life threatening.

The two assailants fled down Carlton Avenue into Atlantic Terminal Houses, police said. No arrests have been made. 

The incident came hours before a teenage mother by her boyfriend after an argument in front of a building at Whitman Houses.

The New York Post identified the woman as Jashaya Stanley, 19. The boyfriend, identified by police as Joshua Knox, also 19, is still at large. 

A lifelong resident of Atlantic Terminal Houses, Steve C., 32, said even with the recent increase in violence, the neighborhood was much safer than it was in years past—and with the impending opening of Barclays Center nearby, brighter days lay ahead. 

"Compared to what it used to be, it's not so bad," he said. "Once the stadium is here, it'll be better."
