Robbed at Knifepoint and Gunpoint! It's This Week's Police Blotter

Our weekly roundup of crime from the 88th Precinct also includes a thief who stole not one, but two fruit carts.

An armed bandit robbed two teenagers with the threat of both bullet and blade on April 4.

The victims told cops they were on Fort Greene Place between DeKalb Avenue and Fulton Street at around 9 a.m. when the perp approached and flashed a knife and a firearm. The pair then handed over an iPhone and Blackberry. About 12 hours later Officer Gregory Schwenk arrested a 17-year-old suspect.

A thug shot a man in the back in a Park Avenue on April 8.

The 31-year-old victim said he was in the store between Cumberland Street and Carlton Avenue at around 11:50 p.m. when the perp said, “You think you’re sweet?” and pulled the trigger. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital with internal injuries, and is expected to survive, police sources said.

Fruit Fiend!

A bandit stole a pair of fruit carts from N. Elliot Place on March 4.

The two victims said they were selling fruit between Flushing and Park avenues at around 4 p.m. when they left their carts unattended. When they returned both carts, worth $4,000 total, were gone.

Thief in the Night

A crafty thief broke into a Prince Street building and stole an assortment of computer equipment on April 6.

Management at Jack Jaffa and Associates between Myrtle Avenue and Willoughby Street said that the thief must have climbed through a window at around 4:50 a.m. The thief got a laptop, projector, and computer screen.

Bad Buddy

A deadbeat stole $1,616 from his friend on April 4.

The 63-year-old victim, who lives on St. James Place between Clifton Place and Greene Avenue, told cops his buddy asked him for money at around noon three days prior. He later realized that the perp had stolen his ATM card and a slew of cash. A series of withdrawals brought the grand total to $1,616.

Car Vanished

A thief stole a 1998 Chevy parked on Ashland Place on April 7.

The owner of the auto told cops he’d last seen his ride Willoughby Street at around 8:30 a.m. When he returned about 12 hours later, it was gone.
