Report: Child Killed In Fort Greene Car Accident

New York Post reports SUV struck 9-year-old boy on DeKalb Avenue.

A 9-year-old boy was struck by a car and killed Saturday afternoon on DeKalb Avenue, according to the New York Post.

The paper reported that a car lost its brakes and jumped a curb, running into a wall and striking and killing a 9-year-old boy and injuring a 5-year-old boy and two women.

Several people at the scene reportedly tried to help before emergency workers arrived  shortly before 1 p.m.

The Post reported that witnesses at the scene said emergency crews tried unsuccessfully to pry the 9-year-old out from under the SUV at the scene for more than a half hour.

The driver reportedly remained with his vehicle after the accident.
