Visiting Pratt Professor Killed In Apparent Domestic Incident

Karyn Kay, 63, was found at her Manhattan apartment earlier Tuesday.

A visiting professor at was found bloody and beaten in her Manhattan apartment early Tuesday, according to police.

Karyn Kay, 63, who taught media studies and humanities at Pratt as well as LaGuardia High School of Music & Art, was discovered on the kitchen floor of her residence at 300 W. 55th St., according to the New York Post

Kay was transported to Cornell Hospital where she was pronounced dead from severe head trauma, police said.

According to her bio on Pratt's website, Kay wrote three books on cinema and was the writer and producer of the 1988 film, "Call Me," starring Steve Buscemi.

Kay's 19-year-old son is being questioned in connection with her death. According to the Post, Kay called 911 as her son suffered a seizure.

A Pratt spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
