Police Arrest 88th Precinct's 'Most Wanted' Suspect

One of the 88th Precinct's "most wanted" suspects is now in custody and facing charges for two violent robberies against young women in Clinton Hill, police said.

Police arrested Omar Alexander, 35, on May 20 within the confines of the 79th Precinct in Bed-Stuy.

The first incident occurred on the morning of April 17, with Alexander allegedly and taking her iPhone 4S and a $10 Metrocard as she went through the turnstiles at Clinton-Washington C line station.

The second robbery happened on Greene Avenue between Classon and Franklin avenues on April 20—also involving a young female victim approached and choked by an assailant from behind and then robbed.

At the time of his arrest, Alexander was also wanted for the burglary of a laundromat at 873 Bedford Ave. in Bed-Stuy.

Capt. Scott Henderson, the precinct's commanding officer, told The Local New York Times blog last week that Alexander was the "most wanted man" in the 88th Precinct, which covers Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

"I'll sleep better at night if I know he's in jail," he said.
