Partial Building Collapse on Irving Place, No Injuries

Part of the wall of a three-story vacant building collapsed Sunday morning at the corner of Putnam Avenue.

Part of a wall of a vacant three-story brick building on Irving Place at the corner of Putnam Avenue collapsed on Sunday morning, fire officials said.

According to an FDNY spokesman, a call came in at around 9:38 a.m. for a partial building collapse for 71 Irving Place.

The three-story red brick building was still standing and stable, but part of the wall, on Putnam Avenue, had collapsed, spilling bricks on to the sidewalk.

Four fire trucks were on the scene along with the NYPD and the Department of Buildings to make sure the residential building was not in danger of falling.

There were no injuries reported and no one was in the building during the partial collapse, which has been vacant for some time.
