(No) Escape From the 88th Precinct: This Week's Police Blotter

Man's escape attempt through station house bathroom stymied by officer.

The following arrest information was supplied by the New York Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police Officer Foils Prisoner's Escape

At the 88th Precinct station house on Friday at 11:40 a.m., an officer caught a man in custody attempting to escape by removing ceiling tiles in one of the precinct's bathrooms. The man, Isaac McKenley, 25, punched the officer in the face during the ensuing struggle.

Man Punched In the Head, Robbed on Carlton

An unknown number of robbers attacked a 27-year-old man on Carlton Avenue between Dekalb and Willoughby on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 11 p.m., stealing his Galaxy smartphone, Kindle and backpack after punching him in the head. The suspect fled southbound on foot on Carlton.

A Frightening Scene At Fort Greene Park Monument

While inside Fort Greene Park near the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, three people—including a 22-year-old woman—were robbed on Monday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. by a gunman flashing a large silver automatic pistol. The robber then told them, "Hurry up and put cash in my bag or [your] friend will be the first to go when I shoot her in the head." After stealing a total of $230 in cash, the suspect then walked westbound towards Willoughby Street. The female victim called 911 but did not stay in the park to meet with police. The woman later reported the incident at the 84th Precinct in Downtown Brooklyn.

Woman Attacked With Wooden Mallet

On Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 8:15 p.m. at Whitman Houses, a 28-year-woman got into a verbal altercation with two acquaintances, who told her, "If you don't pay me the $100 that your mother owes Simon, I'm gonna bust you in the head with this mallet." The victim then claimed one of the acquaintances swung a wooden mallet and hit her on the left wrist. 

Armed Robbery At Fort Greene Park Playground

In the first of a string of incidents involving the use of a firearm, a 30-year-old was held-up at gunpoint on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 10:20 p.m. at a playground located near the intersection of St. Edwards Street and Willoughby Street in Fort Greene Park. A gold necklace, silver ring and another gold and silver rings were stolen along with $12 in cash. Police later arrested Dwayne McCray, 49, on Saturday in connection with the crime.

Designer Merchandise Stolen At "G" Train Station

While entering the "G" line Clinton-Washington Av. Station through a turnstile on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6:16 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was approached from behind by a suspect who demanded she hand over her purse. The suspect then simulated reaching for a weapon by putting his hand in his jacket. The robber then took the woman's Louis Vuitton purse with a Gucci wallet, iPhone and cash inside, and fled in an unknown direction.

iPhone Grab At Lafayette Subway Station

A 26-year-old woman's iPhone was snatched from her hands while boarding a Manhattan-bound "C" train at Lafayette Ave. Station on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 4:20 p.m. after an unknown suspect punched her in the face.

Man Robbed At Fried Chicken Joint

A man in his 30s claimed he was kicked, punched and robbed early Thursday morning by three Latino men at a Crown Fried Chicken restaurant on Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene. The man claimed his attackers were employees of a bodega located at 320 Myrtle Ave.

Eyeglasses May Hold Clue In DoBro Robbery

As a 19-year-old girl walked home from the subway at Fair Street and Fleet Place in Downtown Brooklyn on Thursday at 8 p.m., she passed three males who ran up behind her and covered her mouth and grabbed her neck. The men then took the teen's purse. Police at the 84th Precinct took a pair of eyeglasses worn by the teen during the robbery, hoping to ID her attacker(s) with a thumbprint or DNA sample left on one of the lenses.

Another Playground Armed Robbery

The second armed robbery in a week occurred at a playground in the vicinity of St. Edwards and Willoughby streets on Friday at 3:50 p.m. when a gunman, later identified by police as Dwayne McCray, 49, held up a 26-year-old woman at gunpoint. McCray allegedly walked up to the woman and while sitting next to her displayed a black and silver gun. McCray made off with $44 in a plastic bag and fled westbound on Willoughby toward Flatbush Avenue.

Friday Night Attack In Clinton Hill

A 21-year-old male was attacked by four unknown suspects while walking home on Fulton Street at Classon Avenue on Friday at 9:30 p.m. The victim's HTC MyTouch cellphone, along with an unspecified amount of cash, was taken during the robbery. An ambulance took him to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.

Two men "acting in concert" forcefully took cellphones out of the hands of two victims outside Smashburger on Dekalb Avenue on Saturday at 4:42 p.m. A suspect while giving chase punched one of the cellphone owners in the face. Two teens were later arrested by police at Fair Street and Fair Place in Downtown Brooklyn.

Third Armed Robbery At Fort Greene Playground

On Sunday at 3:16 p.m. at a playground at Willoughby and St. Edwards streets, a 30-year-old woman was approached by a gunman who displayed a black and silver firearm, demanding money. The suspect then fled north on St. Edwards Street and then back into the park. The incident happened a day after Dwayne McCray, 49, was arrested for two similar armed robberies the week prior.

Stabbing On Clinton Ave.

A 33-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen during a dispute at a residence on Clinton Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10:15 p.m. Police later arrested Victor Blackett, 58, at the scene in connection with the crime.

Man Arrest In Stabbing At Whitman Houses

On Friday at 1:30 a.m. at Whitman Houses, an unknown victim was stabbed two times, once in the lower left leg and again in the upper left arm, during a dispute with a man later identified by police as Derwin Adams, 44. Adams was arrested later that morning at the scene by police.

Couple Unwittingly Invites Thief Inside

While cooking a meal in their kitchen on Lafayette Avenue between S. Oxford and Cumberland, a 30-year-old woman's boyfriend opened the front apartment window to cool down the house on Tuesday, Sept. 6 just before 8 p.m. Approximately 45 minutes later, the duo discovered an Apple MacBook computer, Panasonic digital camera and black tote bag missing.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 1:50 p.m., a teen walking through the park had her iPhone taken from her hand by an unknown male who fled on foot.

$9K Stolen In Two Separate Bank Transactions

A 41-year-old Clinton Hill resident reported that her Chase Bank account was accessed Aug. 28-29 via phone, with an unknown person(s) withdrawing $4,800 from her account. Then the suspect(s) deposited checks to the account, withdrawing $4,800 at a later date. The deposits and withdrawals were made at banks located in The Bronx.

Diaper Bag Snatched At Target

While shopping at Target at Atlantic Terminal Mall on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m., a woman had her black diaper bag with BlackBerry, debit and credit cards inside stolen out of a shopping cart while her back was turned. Target security said the location of the crime was not a focal point for any of the store's cameras.

A man walking on the street at Washington Park and Dekalb Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m. had his iPhone stolen by a bicyclist who fled in an unknown direction.

Lottery Ticket Scam?

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 7, a 53-year-old woman looking to exchange $1,500 in cash for the proceeds from a $20,000 lottery ticket at Fulton Street and Classon Avenue became the victim of an apparent con perpetrated by unknown suspects. The woman did not speak English, but police said the victim's daughter was able to translate.

Woman Steals $1K Worth Of Merchandise

A 48-year-old woman was arrested by police on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m. for stealing $1,099.62 worth of baby formula, clothing and candy from a Target department store.

Nurse's Missing Bag Returned By Mail—Sans Wallet

After leaving a tote bag in an open area at Brooklyn Hospital on Aug. 31, a nurse realized the next day that it was missing. The bag was later returned via U.S. Mail, however her wallet with approximately $1,000 in cash was missing.

Russian Tourist Robbed At Marshall's

A 21-year-old Russian tourist travelling on a J-1 visa left her handbag with $400 cash unattended on the floor of a Marshall's at Atlantic Center Mall on Sunday at 6:20 p.m.— only to find it gone moments later. Cameras were present at the store.

Motorcycle Lifted On Cumberland

A motorcycle belonging to a 34-year-old man was stolen sometime during the night/early morning of Sept. 2-3 in front of 268 Cumberland St.

Car Stolen On Washington Park

After parking his 1994 Buick on Washington Park on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 9 p.m., the owner returned the next morning at 10 a.m. to find the vehicle missing.
