Update: Fire Truck Collides With Motorcyclist on Hanson Place

Thursday's crash the second apparent incident in a week involving an FDNY vehicle and motorcycle.

Update, July 5. 7:33 p.m.: According to an eyewitness, Thursday's incident near the intersection of Hanson Place and S. Portland Avenue involved a motorcyclist and a fire truck—not a pedestrian as initially indicated by FDNY.

The fire truck ran into the motorcyclist head on, according to the eyewitness, who was leaving work at the time of the crash.

The fire truck had its lights and sirens on, and ran a red light through the intersection before slamming into the motorcyclist, she said.

FDNY confirmed that the injured patient transported from the scene was the driver of the motorcycle.

The crash comes just a few days after in Bed-Stuy on the way to a call regarding the use of illegal fireworks.

One person was taken to Kings County Hospital with serious, yet non-life threatening, injuries earlier Thursday as a result of a motorcyclist crashing into a pedestrian at a busy Fort Greene intersection, according to the New York Fire Department. 

The incident occurred at 6:50 p.m. at Hanson Place and S. Portland Avenue, the FDNY said.

It was not clear whether the person transported from the scene was a pedestrian or the driver of the motorcycle.
