Mayhem at McDonald’s in This Week's Police Blotter

Our weekly roundup of crime in the 88th Precinct also includes yet another wave of incidents at Target in the Atlantic Terminal mall.

A fast food fiend freaked out in McDonald’s after a cashier refused to accept his $100 bill on March 26.

The 21-year-old employee told cops the crazy customer entered the eatery between DeKalb Avenue and Fulton Street at around 6 p.m. and attempted to pay with the big bill. A manager confirmed that the fast food joint could not accept the $100 bill, sending the customer into a rage. The suspect picked up four food trays and hurled them at the cashier, causing an abrasion to her elbow.

At least three more incidents went down at the Target in the Atlantic Terminal mall, which makes regular appearances in our police blotter.

  • A thief stole a shopper’s purse at the store on March 19. The victim told cops she was shopping at around 4 p.m. when she momentarily stepped away from her shopping cart, where she had placed her bag. When she returned her attention to it, she noticed the pocketbook, containing her Blackberry, a debit card and $100, was missing.
  • A pair of thieves swiped a woman’s wallet from her purse while she shopped in the department store on March 26. The victim told cops she caught one of the punks stealing her stuff at around 5:45 p.m. When she confronted the man, he passed off her wallet to an accomplice and the pair took off. She lost $90, a credit card and an ID.
  • Two thieves attempted to steal an assortment of clothes and groceries from the department store on March 27, but ended up in handcuffs. Management told cops the duo tried to leave the store with $1,071 in merchandise at around 7 p.m. Officer Pinyo Saitep got the credit for the collar.

Park Stick-Up

A bandit held up a woman at gunpoint in Fort Greene Park and stole her $4 on March 21.

The victim told cops that she was in the park at around 9:10 a.m. when the suspect approached, brandishing a gun. The 27-year-old woman explained that she only had a few dollars. The thief took the cash and ran off.

Busted

Two teens robbed a kid in front of the Atlantic Terminal on March 23, but ended up in handcuffs.

The 16-year-old victim told cops he was at Flatbush Avenue and Hanson Place at around 1:15 p.m. when the pair approached. “Yo, what do you have in your pockets?” one of them reportedly said. “If you are not trying to get hurt, give us what you have in your pockets,” the accomplice added. The pair then stole the teen’s iPod and cellphone. Minutes later, Officer Charles Moncayo arrested the duo.

iPod Robbed

A thief robbed a teen of his iPod on March 24.

The victim told cops he was at Prince Street and Myrtle Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. when the perp approached and asked, “What you got? I want something.” The 16-year-old victim refused, and the suspect took a swing at him, which failed to connect. Nevertheless, the thief stole an iPod from his quarry’s jacket.

Team of Thieves

Five punks surrounded a 14-year-old and stole his watch and $8 on March 24.

The 14-year-old victim told cops he was at S. Oxford Street and DeKalb Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. when the group approached and told him not to run. They then stole his stuff.

Blade Brandished

A thief robbed a woman at knifepoint on March 26.

The victim told cops she was at DeKalb Avenue and Hudson Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. when the stranger approached, pulled out a knife and said, “Give me your money.” The victim complied, and the thief then demanded, “Give me your watch and wedding ring!” She obeyed that order, too.

Showdown at Five Spot

An irate woman hurled a drinking glass at her coworker at Five Spot on March 20.

The 37-year-old victim told cops she was having an argument with her fellow employee at the bar at Myrtle and Washington avenues at around 7:30 p.m. when the dispute escalated. The suspect chucked a glass at the victim, striking her in the chest. The victim told cops she did not wish to press charges, but Officer Richard Dorsty still arrested the drink-tosser.

School Brawl

A rowdy student at the Brooklyn School for Career Development threw a metal trashcan at another student on March 21.

The 16-year-old victim said she was at the school on Clermont Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street at around 10:30 a.m. when the troublemaker made her move.

Trouble in Transit

A rowdy straphanger jumped a turnstile on March 23 and then freaked out when a cop attempted to arrest him.

Officer Martillo — cops withheld her first name — said that she spotted the 27-year-old man jump the turnstile at the Nevins Street station at around 2:20 p.m. When Martillo moved into apprehend the suspect, he resisted and punched her in the face numerous times, leaving her bruised and battered. Officer Raymond Sinnott ended up arresting the suspect.

Bad Day at Work

A dispute between two cabbies resulted in one of the men hitting the other in the arm with a car jack on March 25.

The victim told cops he was at Clinton and Myrtle avenues at around 1:55 a.m. when the dispute escalated.

Broke-In

A thief attempted to barge into a Gates Avenue apartment on March 22.

A neighbor told cops that the thief must have tried to break into into the residence between Waverly and Clinton avenues some time between 10 and 11 p.m. The resident was reportedly away on vacation.

Forgetful

An opportunistic thief stole a woman’s wallet from her purse that she had left on a chair on March 17.

The victim told cops she was in a building on Willoughby Avenue between Hall Street and Classon Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. when she accidentally left her bag behind. When she returned to retrieve it she realized she was missing $30 and an assortment of IDs and credit cards. She also received notification that someone was making charges to her credit card.

Charger

A thief stole a woman’s purse on March 20.

The 66-year-old victim told cops she lost her bag, containing $7 and an assortment of credit cards, at Fulton Street and Grand Avenue at around 1 p.m. The next day she received notice of two unauthorized purchases.

Brooklyn Hospital Heist

A thief stole a woman’s purse from her locker at the Brooklyn Hospital Center on March 21.

The victim told cops she placed her bag in the locker at the hospital at DeKalb Avenue and Ashland Place at around 10:30 a.m. When she went to retrieve it six hours later it was gone, along with her Egyptian passport and an assortment of IDs and credit cards.

Train Swipe

A thief snatched a woman’s iPhone while she rode a Brooklyn College-bound 5 train on March 25.

The victim told cops that the train was pulling into Nevins Street station at around 2 p.m. when the thief made his move.

Cell Grab

A young thief snatched a woman’s cellphone out of her hand on March 27, but was arrested minutes later.

The 29-year-old victim told cops she was on Myrtle Avenue near Washington Avenue at around 7:50 p.m. when the suspect grabbed her phone. Officer Nicholas Derobertis then conducted a canvass and picked up a 14-year-old suspect.
