Two Armed Robberies on Washington Avenue: Police Blotter

Both incidents occurred around 10 p.m. on Washington Avenue between Gates and Greene avenues. It is unclear whether they are related.

A round-up of recent robberies in the area:

At 10 p.m. on May 27 a 37-year-old man was approached by a man holding a handgun on Washington Avenue near Gates Avenue. The man demanded his property and the victim gave him his iPhone 4 and $80. The perp fled in an unknown direction.

At 10:02 p.m. on May 30 a 27-year-old woman was on her way to the train station on Washington and Greene avenues when a man approached him. The man showed that he had a gun and demanded the victim's cell phone. The victim screamed and the perp ran away on foot toward Greene avenue. 

At 1:25 p.m. on May 27 while at Brooklyn Hospital, a 22-year-old woman had an argument with her daughter's father that escalated. He choked her and put his hands around her neck, slamming her head into the wall several times. She sustained injuries to the right side of her neck. The 37-year-old man was arrested in connection to the incident. 

At 1 p.m. on May 28 on Flushing Avenue near Commodore Barry Park, 24-year-old woman was arguing with her boyfriend when he grabbed her by the throat. She pushed him off, but he hit her in the head with an umbrella, causing a contusion and a laceration to the top of her head. 

At 4:50 p.m. on June 1 a 70-year-old woman was opening a door inside the lobby of her Lafayette Avenue apartment building, located near Classon Avenue, when someone confronted her and hit her, causing minor cuts, redness and pain. Cameras were present at the location and police noted the perp was more than 10 years younger than the victim.

At 12:55 a.m. on June 2 a 31-year-old woman said she had an argument with her ex-boyfriend inside his car on Lafayette and Washington avenues when he choked her, causing swelling to her neck. She jumped out of the car when it was moving, causing a minor laceration to her arm and back.

At 7 p.m. on June 2 on Carlton Avenue near Atlantic Avenue a 27-year-old man was hit by his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend with a pink baseball bat across his right ankle, causing pain and swelling. After the bat was taken away from her, she bit his left cheek and left index finger. She also had a small red knife and made a small cut on his right arm. He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital. She was arrested later in connection to the incident.
