Man Stabbed in Neck With Screwdriver: This Week's Police Blotter

Incident occurred at the Raymond V. Ingersoll Houses.

Robbery

At 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2012, a 34-year-old man was walking home on South Oxford Street near Greene Avenue when he was surrounded by a four males. One perp showed that he had a silver handgun and said, "Give me your money." After the victim gave the male his iPhone 4 and $100, the group fled south on South Oxford Street toward Fulton Street. A 14-year-old boy was later arrested in connection to the incident.

At 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, after getting into an argument, a 23-year-old man punched his 37-year-old girlfriend, causing swelling to her forehead and a cut on her lip. The man also choked her, causing her to lose consciousness. He then took $700 from her dresser and left. He was later arrested in connection to the incident.  

At 11 p.m. on Jan. 2, a 35-year-old man was attacked by three perps on Clinton and Greene Avenues. One perp punched the man on the left side of his head and said, "I will shoot you." The perp took the man's iPhone 5, wallet and $3. A 14-year-old male was later arrested in connection to the incident.

At 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 3, a 26-year-old man and his friend were walking south on Clinton Avenue near Gates Avenue when two perps approached them from behind and punched the 26-year-old on the right side of his face. They pulled out a knife and told the man and his friend to give them their phones. The perps fled north on Clinton Avenue, possibly entering the Atlantic Avenue train station.

At 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 3, a male a U-turn in front of and then backed-up into a 36-year-old man's vehicle on North Portland and Myrtle Avenues. The male got out of his car, opened the man's car door, grabbed the man's phone and took money out of his pocket, got back into his car and drove off.  

At 7:40 p.m. on Jan. 3, a 29-year-old male was approached by two perps during a concert at Clermont and Greene Avenues. One perp said "Give me what's in your pockets, I've got a gun," and took the male's iPhone 4 and $20.

At 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, 37-year-old woman was approached by two men in Fort Greene Park at Willoughby and Saint Edwards Streets. One man took out a knife and said "Give me your phone." After getting her iPhone, the perps fled. 

At 9:20 a.m. on Jan. 6, a 26-year-old female was approached by her ex-boyfriend in an Emerson Place parking lot and garage. He threatened her with a screwdriver because he doesn't want her dating other people and then attempted to take her phone and bag. He fled in an unknown direction without any of her property. 


Assault

At 8 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2012, at the Raymond V. Ingersoll Houses, a 27-year-old male was stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver, causing a laceration on the left side of his head. A 42-year-old man was later arrested in connection to the incident. 

At 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 1/2/13 4:30 a.m. a 32-year-old female was sleeping in the Tillary Street Women's shelter when a woman hit her in the back of the head iwth a lock, causing swelling. A 31-year-old woman was arrested on the scene and was found to have a bolt cutter on her person.

At 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 2, a 40-year-old man lunged at a 39-year-old woman with a pair of scissors in a Fort Greene Place residence. He was arrested on the scene.

At 4:05 p.m. on Jan. 4, a police officer saw a man in the lobby of a Saint Edwards Street building sitting on the floor and holding a marijuana cigar. The officer asked the man for identification and the man refused to provide any. When the officer and his partner tried to place the man under arrest, he resisted and punched the officer in the face. The man, 31, was arrested on the scene and was found to have three ziplock bags of marijuana on his person. 

Burglary

At approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2012, a crook stole six handbags from the DSW in the Atlantic Center Mall on Flatbush Avenue. A 29-year-old employee of DSW, a chain store in the mall on Flatbush Avenue, told police that she saw a man take six designer handbags and left the store without paying. The crook, described as a black man standing about 5-foot-7, got away with $1,110 in goods.

At 12:44 p.m. on Dec. 31, a 29-year-old man reported his Washington Park apartment broken into, with his Cannon camera, Cannon lens, batteries, memory card and strap taken. There were no witnesses. 

At approximately 4 p.m. on Dec. 31, a quick-handed crook snatched a woman’s wallet from her purse while shopping at the Best Buy on Atlantic Avenue and got away with $250 in cash and 14 credit cards on Dec. 31. The 49-year-old victim told police that she was shopping at Best Buy, but when she went to the checkout line she realized her purse was open and someone had stolen her wallet at around 4 p.m. The crook got away with her identification, $250 in cash and 14 credit cards. The crook tried to use a few cards at Victoria’s Secret and Mandee's after the pickpocket.

From 4:45-5 p.m. on Dec. 31, four crooks stole almost 20 iPads from the Target on Flatbush Avenue in the Atlantic Center Mall. A 31-year-old witness, an employee of Target, told police that he saw four men use a device to break the lock on the display case and remove 17 iPads and leave the store at around 4:45 p.m. The crooks were able to get away, but surveillance video caught the crooks in the act, which scored them more than $3,000 in electronics.

At 2:38 a.m. on Jan. 2, a 26-year-old male reported his South Elliot Place apartment broken into. The perps took his iPad, money and watch before seeing that the man was home in his bedroom. The pers then ran out of the apartment. 

At 9:34 p.m. on Jan. 3, a 23-year-old female reported that her apple headphones and earrings were missing from her Asburn place residence. She said she locked the door before leaving. There was no visible damage to the door. 

At 8 p.m. on Jan. 5, a 20-year-old reported her Mac Book Pro was taken from her Willoughby Avenue apartment. She said when she came back to the apartment, she noticed the front door was open, then discovered the laptop missing.  

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 6, a woman discovered her television and four Ikea mirrors missing from her Hanson Place hair salon.

Grand Larceny

At 12:35 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2012, a perp snatched $30 out of a 51-year-old woman's hand on Classon and Lafayette Avenues and ran towards the Lafayette Gardens Housing Development. 

At 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 2, a 37-year-old female reported earrings and other items missing from her Ashburn Place residence. There were no signs of forced entry. 

At 4:50 a.m. on Jan 4, a 31-year-old reported that her purse was missing. She realized the bag and the items inside were gone as she entered a cab in front of the Bamboo Lounge on Myrtle Avenue. There had been usage on her credit card totalling $461.85. 

At 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 5, a 61-year-old woman reported that someone opened three fraudulent accounts and made her co-owner of the accounts, making it possible to withdraw money from her accounts. The perp withdrew $5,500 before her bank became aware of the activity and froze the accounts. The perp also made three telephone fund withdrawals from a joint savings account, totaling $15,700. 

Grand Larceny Auto 

At 6 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2012, a 49-year-old woman reported her Plymouth Voyager stolen from in front of 524 Myrtle Ave. The woman parked the dark green car there at 5 a.m. on Dec. 29, and when she came back to the location at 11 a.m., the vehicle was no longer there. There was no evidence of broken glass at the scene. 

At 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 3, a man parked his white Acura MDX inside the Ingersoll Houses parking lot and when he later returned the location, the car was gone.

At 9:25 p.m. on Jan. 3, a man was seen looking into numerous vehicles on DeKalb and Clinton Avenues, attempting to open vehicles' doors and take them. A 43-year-old man was later arrested in connection to the incident.
