A round-up of recent crime in the area:

At 12:42 p.m. on June 4 police arrested a 17-year-old boy for taking a 53-year-old woman's Samsung Galaxy Note 2 cellphone at Willoughby and Vanderbilt avenues. The boy struggled with the victim while he tried to take her phone, punching her on her right shoulder, causing substantial pain. The boy tried to get away, but after a short pursuit, police arrested him on Adelphi Street near Willoughby Avenue. He still had the cellphone on his person when police arrested him.

At 9:10 p.m. on July 4, a police officer noticed a 200 Ford Mustang driving down a one-way street against traffic. The driver, 41-year-old Warren Combs, was driving south on Myrtle Avenue while allegedly talking on a cellphone.  The officer approached the car and noticed Combs was allegedly very agitated, his speech was slurred, his eyes were glassy and his breath smelled of alcohol. When the officer tried to arrest Combs, he resisted and struggled. Eventually the officer was able to hold Combs to the ground until other officers arrived on the scene to assist. In the process, the officer injured both of his elbows. Combs was brought to the 78th Precinct Intoxicated Driver Testing Unit to take a breathalyzer test, but he refused to take it.

At 9:20 p.m. on July 6, police arrested Robert Alexander, 70, after he reacted violently to a ticket. After receiving a ticket for parking in a bus stop,  Alexander allegedly became very agitated and intentionally backed up at a fast speed, hitting the police officer's scooter, knocking it down. The falling scooter knocked down the police officer to the ground. The police officer sustained a bone bruise on his right knee.

At 1:50 a.m. on July 7, a 29-year-old man was shot once in his right knee while at Ingersoll Housing on Saint Edwards Street. The man was shot by unknown perps, who ran away in an unknown direction. The victim was brought to Kings County Hospital where he was treated for his non-life threatening injury. An investigation is underway.
