Man Pistol-Whipped at Turnstile: This Week's Police Blotter

Latest brutal robbery in Clinton Hill occurs early Saturday morning at Clinton-Washington A/C subway station.

Brutal beat down by gun-toting robbers at Clinton-Washington Av. subway station

As he looked at a text message on his Samsung Galaxy cellphone while exiting the Clinton-Washington Av. subway station on Jan. 7 at 2:05 a.m., a 22-year-old man noticed the first of three suspects blocking his path to the turnstiles. The victim then felt a silver revolver sticking against the back of his head, with the second perp saying, "You know what this is." A "light" struggle then ensued, with the victim giving in and handing the gun-toting suspect his cellphone, $102 in cash, a check written out for $1,000, credit and debit cards and his Arizona driver's license. While exiting the station, the second suspect then pistol-whipped his victim and said, "Just stay on the subway, you don't want to be dead. Police said a camera affixed to Zion Episcopal Church at 235 Washington Ave. might have recorded the suspects fleeing the scene.

Police described the suspects as follows: Suspect #1: a black male, 17 years old, 5-foot 5-inches tall, 130 pounds; Suspect #2 (with handgun): a black male, 17 years old, 5-foot 7-inches tall, 150 pounds; Suspect #3: a male black, 17, 5-foot 5-inches, 110 pounds.

Two teenage girls, age 15 and 13, went on a mini-robbery spree on Jan. 6, with police tying them to three separate incidents involving a boxcutter and demands for phones or money.

The first incident occurred at 4:17 p.m. at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Prince Street near Fort Greene Houses, with the girls surrounding another teenage girl with her 4-year-old brother, threatening, "Give me your phone or else we will beat you up." When the teen attempted to ignore the duo, one of them punched her in the face, causing a cut on her lower lip.

The second incident occurred less than an hour later in front of 35 N. Elliott Place with the teens following a 38-year-old woman on her way home from work. "I want your phone," one of them told the woman. The other, holding a boxcutter, said, "If you don't give your phone, I want $20."

The final robbery tied to the two girls happened at 5:20 p.m. with a Staten Island man threatened with a boxcutter and demanded to turn over money. "Give me money, Give me anything," one of them reportedly said. The teens were apprehended later on Jan. 6. Police booked one of the teens as an adult; the 13-year-old suspect is being treated as a juvenile.

iPad 2 switched out for... newspaper

A 37-year-old man got the print version of coal in his stocking this year when he discovered a package he believed contained two iPad 2s actually had only newspaper stuffed into the box. The man paid $1,200 in cash for the iPads after he was approached at or around Dec. 23 by a man at Atlantic Center who claimed to have a friend at Best Buy who could get him an employee discount.

MetroCard machine mugging

While two women in their 20s attempted to make a purchase at a MetroCard vending machine at Clinton-Washington G station at 4 p.m. on New Year's Day, a man described by police as a black male, 5-foot 9-inches tall and 150-170 pounds revealed a silver revolver. The suspect then robbed the women of numerous items, including a Coach purse, wallet and cosmetic case, an iPhone 4 and $40 in cash.

Man robbed as he enters subway train

A 59-year-old man withdrew cash from an ATM at Clinton Avenue and Fulton Street and then entered the Clinton-Washington Av. subway station on Jan. 3. Then while entering a subway train at approximately 11:20 a.m., an unknown perp grabbed the man's wallet from his back left pocket with $600, credit and debit cards, as well as his driver's license inside.

Teen attacked near Brooklyn Tech

Two suspects approached a 17-year-old Brooklyn Tech student near 29 Fort Greene Place on Jan. 5 at 4:30 p.m. and asked the teen if he had anything in his pocket. The teen attempted to ignore the two suspects and kept walking, but one of the perps grabbed him by the coat collar and told him to empty out his pockets. When the teen refused, the first suspect punched him in the face and pushed him to the second suspect who also punched the victim on the left side of his face. The teen then fled into a nearby Brooklyn Tech entryway. Police described the two suspects as black males, 17 years of age, one 5-foot 7-inches tall and the other 6-feet tall.

Credit card stolen at Target checkout line

Sometime between Dec. 29 at 1:49 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., a woman claimed a credit card used at the Atlantic Terminal Mall Target store was swiped by a cashier who used it to make $625 in purchases.

$8,000 in purchases made on lost credit card

A woman finding her credit card missing upon returning to her St. James Place residents on Jan. 2 discovered that an unknown perp(s) made $8,000 in fraudulent purchases. The woman told police that she last saw the card at the supermarket before she walked home.

Second strike on Burlington Coat Factory shoplifter

A man identified as Robert Jenkins, 40, was arrested after attempting to swipe a leather coat worth $960, boots and gym bag from the Burlington Coat Factory at Atlantic Center on Jan. 3. Jenkins previously received a trespass warning after being arrested on July 29 at the same store.

Straphanger's purse stolen

A Crown Heights woman discovered her purse stolen, with a debit card, driver's license and keys inside, as she exited a No. 2 subway train on Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. According to the woman's bank, the card was canceled due to suspicious activity.

Husband and wife attacked by 4 perps

After a verbal dispute, a husband and wife were attacked by four assailants who kicked and punched them both. The wife was kicked, punched and hit with a chair and wooden sticks causing multiple cuts to her head and face. The husband was also hit and cut in the face with a wooden chair and sticks. Both were sent to Brooklyn Hospital. The husband and wife said they recognized all of the suspects, and personally knew three of them. 

Nissan stolen from spot on Lafayette Ave.

A driver who parked his 1996 Gold Nissan Maxima in the vicinity of 309 Lafayette Ave. on Dec. 28 returned at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 to find it missing. Police checks of tow records did not turn up any information.

Company car stolen

A Toronto-area employee of Holcim Canada, Inc. discovered his company owned 2008 Blue Ford Escape stolen near the front of 92 Gates Ave. on Jan. 5 at 9:15 a.m. Workboots, sunglasses, GPS and other items were located in the vehicle. The employee found broken glass at the scene.

Ford Mustang missing from space under BQE

A 1994 Green 2-door Ford Mustang is presumed stolen after the driver found the car missing after parking it under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on Park Avenue at Hall Street on Jan. 6.
