Man Murdered on Fulton Street

Police found a man shot on the sidewalk in front of a diner early Sunday morning near Vanderbilt Avenue.

Update, 11:30 p.m.: Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Jason Lewis of Lefferts Place. Tyrone Gainer, 27, was arrested and charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.

A 34-year-old man was shot dead on Fulton Street early Sunday morning, police said.

According to an NYPD spokesman, police responded to gunshots outside of 887 Fulton Street at around 5:02 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6. When cops arrived to the scene, in front of Country House Diner near Vanderbilt Avenue, they found a 34-year-old man shot in the abdomen lying on the sidewalk.

EMS transported the man to Brooklyn Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said they arrested a suspect in connection to the murder, but the investigation is ongoing.
