Iron Gate Thieves Strike Again

Months after rash of crimes, another antique entryway stolen in Fort Greene.

Fort Greene-Clinton Hill property owners who thought it was finally safe to unpadlock their distinctively-Brooklyn wrought iron gates... think again.

Months after police arrested thieves suspected in a rash of iron gate robberies in Clinton Hill, another incident occurred last Thursday at a residence on Vanderbilt Avenue near Park Avenue in Fort Greene, police said. 

According to police, the homeowner discovered his heavy metal gate stolen on Feb. 16 at 9:30 p.m. Police said that the gate was worth over $1,000.

Last summer, police arrested Mario Thornton, 45, and Charles Robinson, 46, for allegedly stealing five gates from Clinton Hill residences from May 18 to 23.
