Forty-Ounces Of Trouble: This Week's Police Blotter

A scene of extreme marital discord leads our rundown of the week that was in the 88th Precinct.

The following arrest information was supplied by the New York Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

St. Ides Heaven?

A wife smashed a 40-ounce glass beer bottle over her husband's head during an argument in an apartment on Lefferts Place early Sunday morning. The victim, who suffered cuts to his forehead, wouldn't tell the police what happened. The wife was taken into custody and charged with assault.

Same-sex Disunion

A lesbian couple had a dispute on Saint Felix Street last week after one of the women refused to hand over the car keys to the other. The girlfriend then slapped her partner on the left side of the head causing her to lose hearing in one ear. The girlfriend then drove her partner to Lafayette Gardens, during which time she stole the victim's iPhone and $200 in cash. The victim was transported to Woodhull Hospital. She is currently seeking an order of protection.

A (Red)Bull In a Grocery Store

A 47-year-old man was caught stealing four cans of RedBull from Green Ville Farms on Myrtle Avenue last Thursday night. When he was approached, a struggle ensued that resulted in minor injuries to a store employee. The man was later arrested and charged with robbery. 

"What Kind Of Phone You Got There?"

A man was robbed of his iPhone 3G by an unknown thief while smoking a cigarette near the entrance of 80 Carlton Street. Before he was robbed, the thief asked him, "What kind of phone you got there?" Before he could answer, the robber punched the man in the side of the head and fled on foot into the projects. 

Melee on Prince and Myrtle

On Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m., four men attacked two friends on the street at Myrtle Avenue and Prince Street. One of the victims, a 27-year-old male, suffered a broken nose, cuts to the face and a possible neck injury. The victim said he got a good look at the attackers and that his friend knew some of them. 

Observe and Report

A wannabe security guard was charged last week with robbing $2,700 in cash from a construction site located at 31 N. Elliott Place. The suspect, identified as Clyde Lawton, 49, is accused of demanding cash on numerous occasions and cutting off a padlock on the site to enter the property without permission. When questioned, Lawton claimed to be a security guard for the site, which the construction company denied. Lawton has been charged with Grand Larceny.

Pratt Purse Grab

Last week, a Pratt student left her purse in a classroom and then went into a room next door. Upon returning, she found the purse with $40 cash, credit and debit cards and a Minnesota driver's license missing. 

Employee Robbed At Work

At a nail salon located at 920 Fulton St., an employee returned to a break room last Thursday at 4:30 p.m. to find her purse with $300 cash, debit cards and white BlackBerry cellphone, missing. 

Car Vanishes Without a Trace

A man returned on the evening of July 11 to where he parked his 2008 Chevy Equinox with New York plates on Waverly Avenue in Clinton Hill to find his vehicle missing. A search of the Brooklyn Navy Yard tow pound failed to turn up the vehicle. No broken glass was found at the scene. 

No Gun, No Foul

On July 9, a 32-year-old woman was attacked inside her home on Vanderbilt Avenue by someone she knew. During a verbal argument, the friend/acquaintance started choking the woman causing scratches, cuts and bruises. The victim was taken to Brooklyn Hospital. Police report that there were no guns in the home.

Electrical Cord Attack

An electrical cord was used during an attack on a 33-year-old man on Atlantic Avenue and Waverly early Sunday morning. The first attacker stuck the victim with a two-and-a-half foot long and one-inch thick electrical cord while a second stuck the man with his hands and feet. The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital. The perps were charged with assault.
