Details Emerge In Shooting at Ingersoll Houses: This Week's Police Blotter

Victim shot three times in the chest and groin; Was able to ID killer.

More Info On Last Week's Shooting In Fort Greene

At 5:36 p.m. on March 21, the 21-year-old victim told police that the shooter, later identified as Keison Smith, 25, shot him several times in the chest and groin at 9 Monument Walk in Ingersoll. The responding officer at the scene told Smith to get on the ground before the suspect managed to flee on foot into the building. Smith was later arrested and charged with firing his weapon five times. Three of those bullets hit the victim, who was transported to Kings County Hospital. Police recovered the firearm used in the shooting at the scene.

Early Morning Robbery On Irving Place

On March 20, a woman reported an early morning robbery at her residence on Irving Place in Clinton Hill. According to the woman, an unknown perp aged 20 to 30 years old confronted her in her building's lobby on March 10 and demanded that she turn over her purse. The woman told police that she didn't look at the thief and couldn't identify the suspect. An iPhone 4 and several credit cards were in the bag.

Boyfriend Snatches Phone

A 47-year-old woman told police that her boyfriend took her cellphone after striking her in the face and back with his fist and kicking her at her residence on Park Avenue in Fort Greene on March 20 at 9 p.m. A police search of the area failed to turn up the suspect.

Un-Brotherly Love

A man identified by police as Otis Jackson stole his 63-year-old sister's cellphone out of her pocket while on the staircase of her building on N. Portland Avenue in Whitman Houses on March 23. The woman said her brother put his right arm around her neck, restraining her while he put his left hand into her pocket, stealing her cellphone at around 6:05 p.m.

Another Assault at Tillary Women’s Shelter

No stranger to Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Patch's police blotter, Tillary Street Women’s Shelter was again the scene of a violent incident, this time involving a 57-year-old woman hitting a younger resident with a sock with a lock hidden inside after an argument on March 23 at 1 a.m. Police arrested the older woman at the scene.

Laptop Stolen in Late Night Burglary

A resident of an apartment on Clinton Avenue fell asleep at midnight March 23 to awaken the next morning to find her front window open and her laptop stolen. A police search of the area did not turn up any clues.

Multimedia Equipment Stolen From House

Returning to her home on Adelphi Street on March 23 at 6:30 p.m., a woman discovered a MacBook Pro laptop, audio recorder, Sony camera and lenses missing. The woman told police that she locked her front door—the point of entry for the thief—when she left that morning.

Post Office Phone Swipe

A 20-year-old female Pratt student got bumped by an unknown suspect at the post office on Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill on March 19 at 1:45 p.m., after which time she realized that her iPhone was stolen from her bag.

MacBook Pro Stolen From Office at Pratt

Sometime between March 19 and March 20 a MacBook Pro was stolen out of a locked office at Pratt Institute's Photography Department at 200 Willoughby Ave. The thief or thieves took the computer from its original box.

Woman Caught in the Act at B of A

Police arrested Rosa Samuels, 57, after she attempted to withdraw $4,800 from a bank account at a Bank of America branch on Myrtle Avenue on March 21 at around 1:30 p.m. without permission or authority to conduct transaction.

Mini-Crime wave Continues at Pratt

A Pratt student reported her laptop stolen from inside a classroom on March 22 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
